About the Role:

Verve Senior Living is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dining Services Director/Executive Chef to join our team. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for leading the food services department and ensuring that our residents receive exceptional dining experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the food services department, including recruiting, selecting, and orienting staff.
  • Develop and implement menus that meet the nutritional and dietary needs of our residents.
  • Ensure that all food preparation and service meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and sanitation.
  • Monitor and control food costs, inventory, and wastage.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and recreation teams to plan and execute catering functions and special events.
  • Conduct regular meetings with departmental staff to discuss problems, provide training, and promote staff development.
  • Ensure that all staff receive regular in-service training and education.
  • Assist the general manager with the preparation of the annual operating budget and maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of a plan of care for residents that supports independence.
  • Attend and participate in regional dining services manager's meetings.

Requirements:

  • Smart Serve Certification.
  • Minimum Grade 12 and completion of Cooks Journeyman papers or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years experience in volume food preparation at a Cook I or Cook II level and/or supervision in a hotel/restaurant or institutional setting.
  • Ability to communicate, both written and orally, in the English language.
  • Familiarity with computerized online ordering systems and dietary software.
