Employment Law Staff Attorney Position
Scarborough Community Legal Services (SCLS) is a dedicated non-profit legal clinic that provides essential services to low-income individuals within a diverse community. The role encompasses various responsibilities including case management, advocacy for law reform, community engagement, and public legal education, primarily focusing on housing, social assistance, immigration, and employment law.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management
- Deliver legal counsel and services specifically in the realm of employment law
- Initiate legal proceedings as authorized by the Executive Director
- Conduct thorough legal research
- Oversee and mentor junior team members
Advocacy and Community Engagement
- Identify and pursue initiatives in collaboration with legal teams
- Act as a representative of the Clinic in community forums
- Keep abreast of policy developments
Public Legal Education
Engage with community organizations and members to discuss legal matters
Develop and review educational resources
Qualifications and Experience
- Licensed attorney in good standing
- 1 to 7 years of relevant legal experience
- Familiarity with pertinent legislation
- Experience in litigation processes
- Strong commitment to social justice principles
- Excellent communication abilities
- Collaborative approach to teamwork
- Knowledge and experience across various legal domains
Employment Terms
This is a full-time position that includes benefits and a pension plan.
Salary range is between $75,000 and $83,830.
Remote work options are available.
