Role Overview

The Laboratory Operations Supervisor for Controlled Substances at Reworld™ is responsible for overseeing the operations of two licensed teams, ensuring compliance with all legislative and regulatory standards. This position is crucial for maintaining the facility's waste analysis plan and ensuring thorough evaluations and adherence to compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage laboratory operations and programs, ensuring accurate record-keeping and providing technical support for equipment and data analysis tools.
  • Perform detailed analyses of incoming samples, carefully documenting results in both physical and digital formats.
  • Conduct bench studies on waste materials, innovate methodologies, and uphold safe waste management practices.
  • Offer expert guidance on operational activities and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee the inventory of laboratory equipment, supplies, and analytical tools.
  • Assess the treatability of new samples and maintain high standards of laboratory cleanliness.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards while actively promoting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with sample preparation, analyses, and coordination with production teams.
  • Provide technical expertise and problem-solving support to laboratory, sales, and operations teams.
  • Manage discrepancies in incoming and outgoing materials while maintaining accurate records.
  • Review analytical reports to confirm compliance with disposal site parameters.
  • Assist in emergency spill response procedures and oversee the receipt, destruction, and disposal of controlled substances.
  • Prepare documentation for controlled substance deliveries in strict accordance with regulations.
  • Ensure proper storage of controlled substances in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Address customer inquiries related to controlled substances professionally and efficiently.
  • Participate in physical inventory checks and meticulously document any discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with regulatory bodies and lead on-site audits as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • A post-secondary degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, microbiology, chemical engineering, medicine, or dentistry) from a recognized institution or equivalent experience.
  • 5-8 years of experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Preferred leadership experience of 1-3 years.
  • Familiarity with industry practices is advantageous.
  • Willingness to gain expertise in relevant regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and adeptness in handling laboratory equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Capability to wear protective equipment as required.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Experience in handling both non-hazardous and hazardous materials.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and forklifts is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across diverse audiences.
