Job Title: Senior Java/Spark Developer - FX Trading Specialist

Job Summary:

First Derivative is seeking a highly skilled Senior Java/Spark Developer to join our team as an FX Trading Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing a consolidated modern data lake house platform using big data technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop a scalable and efficient data lake house platform using big data technologies such as Spark, Scala, and Hadoop.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to migrate existing applications to the new platform.
  • Develop and maintain complex queries, streaming, and real-time data pipelines using data manipulation languages such as Spark, Scala, Impala, Hive SQL, Apache Nifi, and Kafka.
  • Apply business strategy while driving technology strategy, balancing short-term and long-term needs to ensure the architecture can scale and evolve accordingly.
  • Engage an end-to-end approach by connecting all the pieces of data and deliver a streamlined model.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive information management solutions and end-to-end development life-cycle support and SDLC processes.
  • An in-depth understanding of Spring Boot, Microservices, and Cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform) and experienced in integrating into traditional hosting/delivery models.
  • Experience with two or more of the following areas including Python, Spark, Scala, Hadoop, Data bricks, Snowflake, Shell, Perl, Core Java, Impala, Hive, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant field from an accredited college or university; Master's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Established experience delivering information management solutions to large numbers of end users.
  • Experience in Financial Services domain, specifically in FX Trading is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of enterprise data warehouse, big data, BI & analytics, content management, and data management.
  • Good knowledge in DevOps engineering using Continuous Integration/Delivery tools.
