Key Responsibilities- Teach English 10 and Career Life Education 10 to students at Abbotsford Senior Secondary School
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to promote academic growth
- Collaborate with colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Stay up-to-date with curriculum developments and best practices in English language arts and career life education
- Major or minor in English
- Experience teaching English language arts at the secondary level
- Secondary teacher training with experience in career education
- Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Certificate from an accredited program
- Training and experience administering and interpreting IPT Assessments
- Familiarity with IELTS instruction and BC ELL Standards
- Experience teaching ELL learners at the secondary level
- Experience using technology to facilitate language acquisition
- Eligible for Abbotsford Academic English Language Program certificate and B.C. Certification
- Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to consider and respond appropriately to the needs, feelings, and capabilities of others in a tactful, compassionate, and respectful manner.
- Organization & Planning: Ability to plan and organize for effective instruction, differentiation, and assessment.
- Classroom Management: Create and maintain an optimal learning environment for each student while managing student behavior and classroom dynamics.
- Facilitation & Engagement: Ability to capture and maintain students' interest, effort, participation, and enthusiasm for both the content and the process of learning.
- Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning, including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives.
- Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive, and supportive of all students.
- Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in the ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances.
