Job Summary:
We are in search of a highly qualified and experienced Senior Taxation Manager to lead our tax team. The successful candidate will oversee all facets of our clients' tax compliance and planning requirements while guiding both senior and junior accounting personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the preparation and review of tax returns for individuals, corporations, trusts, partnerships, and non-residents.
- Stay updated on current tax legislation, regulations, and industry developments.
- Provide strategic tax planning and consulting services to clients, focusing on minimizing tax liabilities and optimizing tax savings opportunities.
- Conduct research and interpret tax laws to ensure compliance and identify potential tax planning avenues.
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, offering timely and proactive tax advice.
- Assist clients during tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Supervise and mentor tax staff, providing essential guidance and support.
- Experience in preparing and filing U.S. tax returns is a plus.
- Oversee monthly billing processes and month-end closings.
- Prepare and file tax appeals with the Appeals Division at the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and represent clients at the Tax Court of Canada (TCC).
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in public accounting with a focus on Canadian taxation.
- Strong technical knowledge of Canadian tax laws and regulations, with expertise in taxation for various entities.
- Proven experience in tax planning and consulting for both individuals and businesses.
- Proficiency in tax software, Microsoft Office Suite, and accounting software such as QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Sage, and CaseWare.
