Job Title: Research Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Assistant to join our team at the Centre de recherche du CHUM (CRCHUM). The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Saima Hassan in her translational research laboratory in breast cancer.

Job Summary

The Research Assistant will be responsible for conducting research projects to test combination approaches for PARP inhibitors in breast cancer cell lines, mice models, and tissue models derived from breast cancer patients. The candidate will also be involved in collecting blood samples for a multi-modal liquid biopsy project, which has been approved for funding by the New Frontiers Research Fund.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct molecular biology techniques, including cell culture, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, western blots, and mice handling (including surgeries for tumor implantations and drug treatments)
  • Handle and analyze patient samples, including blood samples for ctDNA, DNA/RNA extraction
  • Assist with lab management tasks, data analysis, and project coordination
  • Teach techniques to graduate and undergraduate students within the lab
  • Contribute to writing abstracts, posters/presentations for conferences, and manuscripts in English
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant field
  • Background in cancer research
  • Minimum of one first-authored publication
  • Good knowledge of French and English
