TEAM OVERVIEW

As an Associate in Infrastructure Investments based in our Montréal office, you will collaborate with a dedicated team focused on pursuing investments and managing a diverse portfolio of infrastructure assets on a global scale. Your role will encompass all facets of the investment process, including research, origination, due diligence, and asset management.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Associate in Infrastructure Investments, your responsibilities will include:

Evaluating Infrastructure Investment Opportunities and Executing Transactions
  • Conducting thorough analyses of investment opportunities, assessing the investment thesis, including key advantages and risks.
  • Evaluating target companies' historical and projected financial data, strategic positioning, industry dynamics, and regulatory factors.
  • Preparing and recommending equity valuations for target companies by:
    • Developing comprehensive operational and financial models for DCF valuation, substantiating key assumptions, and performing sensitivity analyses on primary value drivers;
    • Formulating an expected return aligned with the risk profile of the business plan;
    • Researching public information on comparable companies and precedent transactions to benchmark valuations.
  • Participating in or leading critical due diligence activities, coordinating with third-party advisors across various domains (commercial, legal, financial, etc.).
  • Assisting in the preparation of investment memorandums and presenting recommendations to investment committees.
Monitoring and Managing Portfolio Investments
  • Tracking financial and operational performance, explaining variances in management plans.
  • Conducting ad hoc analyses of portfolio companies' performance and growth trajectories.
  • Supporting the periodic valuation process of portfolio companies.
  • Collaborating with management teams to evaluate and execute investment opportunities and capital projects.
  • Assisting in the review of strategic alternatives and exit strategies for portfolio companies.
Supporting Business Development Efforts
  • Staying informed about significant industry developments and sharing relevant insights with the team.
  • Analyzing trends in existing and emerging infrastructure sectors, conducting in-depth research, and engaging with industry experts.
  • Building and nurturing a network of industry contacts to enhance information access for the team.

Note: This position may require travel.

QUALIFICATIONS

We seek a collaborative team player who thrives in a high-performance environment and possesses strong interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience with a focus on financial statements, corporate finance, M&A, and valuation, along with excellent analytical and modeling capabilities.

Specifically, we are looking for:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • Professional designations such as CA, MBA, CFA, or CBV are advantageous.
  • Three to five years of relevant experience in financial analysis, accounting, modeling, valuation, or transactional roles within consulting, investment banking, or corporate development.
  • Experience in the infrastructure and/or energy sectors is preferred.
  • A solid understanding of financial statements, exceptional analytical skills, and sound judgment.
  • A team-oriented mindset with a passion for high performance and mentoring junior team members.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to convey information effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and financial analytical tools such as Capital IQ and Bloomberg.
  • Fluency in English and French is required, or a willingness to learn French.
