Senior Housing Planner

The Senior Housing Planner position plays a critical role in implementing the City of Vancouver's Housing Vancouver strategy, providing leadership and project management expertise to secure affordable housing through planning and development processes.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a team of professional planners in implementing projects, utilizing strong coaching and mentoring skills.
- Develop and implement policy in a multi-stakeholder environment, leveraging expertise in project management, land use planning, and social safety net policies.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to develop partnerships that will effectively implement housing projects and meet the new Housing Vancouver targets.
- Provide liaison with the public, community groups, and senior government representatives, preparing and presenting Affordable Housing Project reports and recommendations to senior staff and City Council.
- Supervise a staff team, developing individual work plans, performance objectives, and training and development opportunities, while encouraging a team approach to achieving housing and corporate objectives.
The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in planning or a related discipline, with thorough professional experience in a responsible level position, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
The candidate should have up-to-date knowledge and understanding of social, economic, political, technological, demographic, and environmental trends, factors, and issues related to housing context in Vancouver and the Metro area.
They should also have considerable knowledge of project management philosophies and practices, including project scope, budgeting, scheduling, and coordination of team activities, as well as municipal planning, land development, community development, housing planning, and policy development.
