We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Java Spark Developer to contribute to our esteemed IT services firm, focusing on large-scale financial projects.

Location: Mississauga, Ontario
Work Arrangement: Hybrid - In-Office 3 days per week
Employment Type: Permanent/Full-Time or Contract (initially 6 months)
Compensation: Competitive salary and benefits

Role Responsibilities:
As a Java Spark Developer, your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining robust Java applications utilizing Apache Spark for distributed data processing and analytics.
  • Collaborating with data engineers and data scientists to create efficient data pipelines, ETL processes, and machine learning workflows using Spark.
  • Optimizing and fine-tuning Spark jobs to maximize resource utilization and ensure high throughput for data processing tasks.
  • Integrating Java applications with Spark clusters, employing Spark's APIs and libraries for effective data manipulation and analysis.
  • Developing and deploying both real-time and batch processing applications using Spark Streaming and Spark SQL for comprehensive data ingestion and analysis.
  • Implementing data caching, partitioning, and parallel processing techniques to enhance Spark job performance and resource efficiency.
  • Working with cloud-based platforms and big data technologies to deploy and manage Spark-based applications in distributed environments.
  • Engaging with cross-functional teams to comprehend business requirements, data models, and analytics use cases, and implementing relevant solutions using Spark.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Java Developer with practical expertise in Apache Spark for data processing and analytics.
  • Strong command of the Java programming language, particularly in scalable and distributed systems.
  • Experience with Apache Spark, including Spark Streaming, Spark SQL, and associated tools and libraries.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, HDFS, and distributed computing frameworks.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) for deploying and managing Spark applications.
  • A solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and database technologies for effective data manipulation and analytics.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Git) is preferred.
  • Certification in Apache Spark or related big data technologies is a plus.
