Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and professional Mainline Hoe Operator to join our team. If you are looking for a company that values your expertise and offers ample opportunities for growth in the dynamic construction industry, this role may be for you.

The Mainline Hoe Operator is tasked with the safe and efficient operation of excavating machinery. This role involves using mechanical controls to maneuver the boom, arm, and bucket for excavation and ground leveling.

Key Responsibilities


• Safely operate the Hoe and other heavy machinery.

• Conduct daily maintenance and safety inspections of equipment.

• Perform pre-operational checks, including cleaning, lubricating, and refilling machinery as needed.

• Collaborate with ground personnel during the excavation and installation of pipe systems.

• Ensure trenches are excavated to the specified depth and grade.

• Manage the placement of water, storm, and sanitary sewer pipes within excavations.

• Follow instructions from ground crew regarding craning, gravel placement, and grading.

• Optimize excavation time to maintain production schedules.

• Adhere to OH&S requirements during trench work.

• Operate machinery on public roadways while maintaining situational awareness.

• Understand ground disturbance issues and ensure safe rigging of materials.

• Maintain the Hoe through routine cleaning and servicing.

• Provide training to new employees on safe Hoe operation.

• Perform other operational duties as required.

Qualifications and Requirements


• High School diploma or G.E.D preferred.

• Valid Class 5 driver's license required.

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the road construction sector.

• At least 2-3 years of experience operating a Mainline Hoe is essential.

Working Conditions


• The work schedule is weather-dependent, typically Monday to Saturday, with shifts up to 12 hours. Overtime is compensated according to local employment standards.

• Out-of-town travel may be necessary, with accommodations and a Live Out Allowance potentially provided.

• Work is primarily outdoors, subject to varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

• Physical ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs regularly is required.

• Personal Protective Equipment must be worn at all times.

• Compliance with the company's drug and alcohol testing policies is mandatory.
