We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to join our team at the York Catholic District School Board.
Key Responsibilities- Provide support to students with hearing loss in a small class or resource/withdrawal setting
- Develop and implement programming to enhance language, speech, and auditory skills
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate support services
- Use amplification and assistive technology to support student learning
- Work with students, parents, and staff to develop strategies for success
- Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing qualifications or enrollment in a Deaf Education Program
- Knowledge of Ontario Curricula and flexibility to work across grade levels
- Experience with personal and classroom amplification
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Specialist Qualifications: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Regular classroom teaching experience
- Experience with assistive technology and literacy acquisition
- Strong working knowledge of literacy skills
- Experience working with special needs students
