About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Housing Support Specialist to join our team at Our Place Society. As a key member of our support team, you will play a vital role in providing essential services to our residents and shelter users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Support and Advocacy
    • Provide individualized support and advocacy to residents and shelter users, identifying their problems, needs, and risks.
    • Develop and implement short-term intervention plans to address specific issues and needs.
  • Service Coordination
    • Collaborate with the support team to develop and deliver resident support plans.
    • Coordinate services and referrals to external agencies and community resources.
  • Program Operations
    • Assist with the set-up and maintenance of shelter facilities.
    • Participate in cross-agency working groups and liaison with partner agencies.
  • Administrative and Reporting Tasks
    • Assist with the collection and reporting of statistical information.
    • Maintain accurate records and reports as required.
Requirements
  • Education and Training
    • Diploma in a related human/social service field.
    • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Basic computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Training in non-violent crisis intervention techniques and harm reduction approach.
    • Knowledge of community resources and ability to navigate stairs and be on feet for up to 6 hours.
  • Work Environment
    • Full-time position with three 12-hour shifts per week.
    • Competitive hourly rate of $61.
    • Eligible for a comprehensive benefits plan, including health and dental coverage, after completion of probationary period.
