Job Summary

The San Angelo ISD is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Director to lead our transportation department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of our transportation program, ensuring the well-being of our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Management
    • Develop and implement transportation policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
    • Manage and evaluate the performance of transportation staff, including bus drivers, mechanics, and administrative personnel.
    • Coordinate transportation services for students, including bus routes, schedules, and special events.
    • Monitor and report on transportation-related incidents and accidents.
  • Fiscal Management and Inventory
    • Develop and manage the transportation budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and compliance with district policies.
    • Oversee the maintenance and repair of district-owned vehicles, including scheduling and coordinating repairs.
    • Manage inventory of transportation supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and minimizing waste.
    • Process and manage transportation-related invoices and payments.
  • Policy, Reports, and Law
    • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and policies related to transportation.
    • Develop and maintain transportation-related reports and records, including accident reports and vehicle maintenance records.
    • Communicate with district administrators, staff, and parents regarding transportation-related issues and concerns.
  • Student Management
    • Implement and enforce student discipline policies and procedures related to transportation.
    • Monitor and report on student behavior and safety issues related to transportation.
    • Collaborate with district administrators and staff to develop and implement strategies to improve student safety and well-being.
  • Personnel Management
    • Recruit, train, and evaluate transportation staff, including bus drivers and mechanics.
    • Develop and implement training programs to ensure transportation staff are equipped to handle emergency situations.
    • Manage transportation staff schedules and assignments, ensuring adequate coverage and minimizing overtime.
  • Safety
    • Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of students and staff.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections of district-owned vehicles and transportation facilities.
    • Collaborate with district administrators and staff to develop and implement strategies to improve safety and reduce risk.
  • Professional Growth and Development
    • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to transportation.
    • Attend professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to transportation management.
    • Collaborate with district administrators and staff to develop and implement strategies to improve transportation services and student outcomes.
  • Communication
    • Develop and maintain effective communication with district administrators, staff, parents, and students regarding transportation-related issues and concerns.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to district administrators and staff on transportation-related matters.
