Job Overview

As a Rehabilitation Physiotherapy Assistant within the Medical Unit specializing in Neuro/Stroke care, your primary responsibility will be to execute treatment plans as directed by the supervising occupational and/or physical therapist. You will play a crucial role in monitoring and reporting changes in patient conditions while performing essential administrative tasks and ensuring a safe and clean environment.

Role Responsibilities
In this position, you will:
Implement exercise regimens for patients, both individually and in groups, while assisting with gait training as per the physiotherapist's directives. Facilitate safe patient transfers and demonstrate proper lifting techniques to nursing staff and families, as instructed by the occupational and/or physical therapist. Conduct individual Activities of Daily Living (ADL) training to promote patient independence, following the occupational therapist's guidance. Lead therapeutic activity groups under the supervision of an occupational therapist on a weekly basis. Organize and manage necessary equipment and supplies for therapy sessions. Maintain cleanliness and functionality of therapy equipment and spaces. Ensure timely completion of documentation and workload data. Serve as a mentor to Occupational Therapy Assistant/Physiotherapy Assistant students.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess: A diploma from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant/Physiotherapy Assistant (OTA/PTA) program. Proficiency in applying physiotherapeutic techniques. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Experience in an acute medical inpatient setting. Competence in computer skills, including MS Word and patient information systems. Bilingualism in French and English is considered an asset.
