Job Title: Systems Security Engineer

MDA Space is seeking a highly skilled Systems Security Engineer to join our Geointelligence Engineering Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the security of our Earth Observation space missions, large defence contracts, and in-house developed products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consult on system architectures, operations concepts, and system enhancements from a security perspective;
  • Develop and maintain security-related system artefacts, including specifications, ICDs, profiles, test documents, vulnerability assessments, threat models, and customer reports;
  • Derive security requirements, designs, solutions, and mechanisms in response to current DND security focus, including CSE Security Controls and Directives;
  • Develop security acceptance and accreditation programs for Classified systems;
  • Support engineering program delivery through the development and generation of security components of documents, such as engineering plans, engineering budgets, and design reports;
  • Oversee the acceptance plans for security-related aspects of the product/system;
  • Support planning and cost estimates for projects and bids.

Requirements:

  • A degree or diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant experience in Systems Security;
  • 5+ years working in an engineering or information systems environment;
  • Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP);
  • Understanding of DND project delivery and execution processes from requirements through commissioning and support;
  • Appreciation of the delivery and accreditation process of systems against CSE ITS guidance;
  • Experience maintaining close working relationships with other system engineers and customer representatives;
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and customer interaction skills;
  • Exceptional leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, and project execution strengths.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in accreditation of Classified systems for DND involving information systems, cross-domain solutions, and multi-domain interoperability;
  • Experience in Network Defense principles and practices, User Security Management, Information Security, Vulnerability Management, and Threat Risk Assessment;
  • Experience with NIST SP-800 suite, ISO/IEC, DISA STIGs, CIS, SANS standards;
  • Experience in designing, deploying, and working in Security Operation Centres;
  • Hands-On experience with Microsoft Enterprise network suite, SIEMs, vulnerability assessment tools;
  • Establishing Business Continuity Plans and Disaster Recovery Programs;
  • Familiarity with requirements management software such as DOORS;
  • Certifications such as Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) or Certified in Governance, Risk, and Compliance Certification (CGRC).

Security Clearance: Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the SECRET status level and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $80,000 - $117,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience.
