Process Engineer Job Description

Cantech Services is seeking a skilled Process Engineer to join its team in the Newmarket Area. This is a full-time, permanent position with excellent benefits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the accuracy of manufacturing bills of materials, work centre master files, and standard run times for all products.
  • Coordinate the timely implementation of engineering changes to minimize obsolete stock and ensure production at the required engineering level.
  • Develop and maintain a robust part numbering system.
  • Design and implement plant and equipment layout improvements, process enhancements, and die changes.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining standard costs for all products.
  • Coordinate the introduction of new products to the company and select suitable suppliers for subcontracted operations.
  • Research and pursue opportunities for improvement in the operation to increase competitiveness.
  • Participate in the engineering change process by designing and updating Process Failure Mode Effects Analyses as needed.
  • Review operator instructions and ensure the readiness of assembly equipment, packaging requirements, and completion of manufacturing engineering tasks.
  • Maintain a daily presence on the production floor, providing engineering support to assembly in areas such as ergonomic evaluations, methods improvement, and safety.
  • Research, investigate, and report manufacturing concerns for improvement of overall plant productivity.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a college diploma or university degree in an engineering discipline, with mechanical engineering being preferred.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in a related field or discipline.
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Excellent technical report writing abilities.
  • Previous experience with welding/programming required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and C.A.D.
  • Excellent problem-solving techniques and methods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
