Black & McDonald Limited is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our Southern Ontario team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing estimates of probable costs for construction projects, advising on tendering procedures, and establishing cost monitoring and reporting systems.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed estimates of costs for materials, labor, subcontractors, and equipment for construction projects.
- Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, and recommend tender awards.
- Establish and maintain tendering processes, set up cost monitoring and reporting systems, and coordinate price packages with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Participate in site reviews, tender reviews, and project closing meetings with the Division Manager, Chief Estimator, and Project Manager.
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Liaise with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
- Maintain an industry presence to ensure continuity of work and stay up-to-date with new technology within the mechanical contracting industry.
- 10-15 years of experience working as a Mechanical Estimator on ICI projects of a $5M value or higher.
- Graduate of a Mechanical Engineering program or Construction Technology program with related work experience, or a qualified tradesperson in the mechanical field with several years' experience and previous estimating experience.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of contract management, construction scheduling, planning, and execution, as well as trade fluency in plumbing, hydronic, and HVAC.
- Self-driven leadership abilities and the ability to work with deadlines.
- P.Eng. or CET would be considered an asset.
- Project management experience is an asset.
