About the Role

The BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Occupational Hygiene Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive occupational hygiene assessments and inspections to identify potential hazards and risks.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor effective control measures to mitigate identified hazards.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on occupational health and safety matters to staff, management, and contractors.
  • Investigate workplace incidents and accidents related to occupational hygiene issues.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation on findings, recommendations, and control measures implemented.
  • Stay abreast of current legislation, regulations, and best practices in occupational hygiene.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on projects and initiatives related to occupational health and safety.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Master of Science degree in Occupational Hygiene or equivalent, along with three to five years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting. A strong understanding of BC Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and the Workers Compensation Act is essential.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Registration with relevant professional organizations is highly desirable.
