Occupational Hygienist and OHS Advisor

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Hygienist and OHS Advisor to join our team at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating occupational hygiene and health and safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement occupational hygiene and safety services that meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and investigations to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Provide consultation, research, and educational support on occupational hygiene to the Joint Occupational Health and Safety (JOHS) committee, managers, and staff.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement and improve organization-wide systems, programs, and services to ensure the health, safety, and wellness needs of BC-CfE staff, volunteers, and physicians are met.
  • Develop and deliver training programs and instructional materials on occupational hygiene and safety.
  • Represent BC-CfE's interests in dealing with regulatory agencies and liaise with area-specific WSBC officers.

Requirements

  • Master of Science degree in Occupational Hygiene or equivalent education plus three to five years' recent related experience.
  • Registered member of a professional organization (e.g., AIHA, ACGIH).
  • Eligible for registration as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH) and Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of BC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation and the Workers Compensation Act.
