Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Control Specialist to join our team at Webber. As a key member of our infrastructure management team, you will be responsible for responding to incidents on provincial highways, ensuring the safety of the traveling public, and collaborating with emergency response services.

To succeed in this role, you must possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Incident Response: Respond to incidents on provincial highways, including traffic accidents, spills, and emergency situations, and collaborate with emergency response services to ensure a safe and efficient resolution.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with the Ministry of Transportation Traffic Operations Centre, provincial and local police, and other stakeholders to provide information and updates on incidents.
  • Reporting: Complete incident reports and track and maintain files on major incidents and accidents.
  • Detour Coordination: Coordinate detour routes in the event of an asset closure, ensuring minimal disruption to traffic flow.
  • Investigation: Conduct follow-through investigations on all fatalities to determine if facilities contributed to the accident.
  • Documentation: Gather and maintain documentation, paperwork, and other relevant information for third-party claims and special events.
  • Special Events: Coordinate special events involving traffic control, detours, and/or closures.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the team, including data entry and record-keeping.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma - required
  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years' work experience in highway maintenance operations, freeway traffic control, and incidents/accidents management.
  • Certifications: Valid Class DZ driver's license and OTM BOOK 7 certification required.
Working Conditions

This role requires frequent exposure to outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, and occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be more than moderate at times.
