Job Title: Senior Control Systems Software Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Control Systems Software Designer to join our team at ATS Corporation. As a key member of our Life Sciences Systems division, you will be responsible for designing and developing world-class automation solutions for our clients in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop software programs for control systems, utilizing PLCs, PCs, robotics, motion controllers, vision systems, and other technologies.
  • Debug and commission control systems at our facility, during system integration, and at customer sites during installation.
  • Travel to customer and supplier sites to perform installation, commissioning, and training duties.
  • Select, test, and integrate hardware and software components, including robots, analog devices, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems, and lasers.
  • Collaborate with other team members to improve methods of integrating controls technology, focusing on enhanced safety, functionality, and reduced cost.
  • Ensure adherence to labor and material budgets, as well as scheduled delivery dates.
  • Work with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems and provide complete, functional automation systems.
  • Provide thorough testing of machine functionality to verify software program completeness.
  • Document each project accurately.
  • Advise customers on solving technical problems.
  • Provide customer training on machine operation, programming principles, and program structure.
Requirements:
  • A post-secondary engineering degree, diploma, or equivalent, specializing in mechanical, electrical, systems, or computer engineering.
  • Strong programming, mechanical, and electrical problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Understanding of robotics, control systems, and machine operation, with hands-on experience desirable.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
