Farm Supervisor Job Description

At William Reid, Nancy Reid, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Farm Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our dairy farm, ensuring the health and well-being of our livestock, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct artificial insemination and spraying or shearing of livestock or disinfecting pens, barns or poultry houses
  • Handling animals with care and attention to detail
  • Monitor the calving process and take necessary actions to ensure the health and well-being of the animals
  • Treat livestock health issues and provide medical care as needed
  • Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
  • Perform general farm duties, including milking cows
Requirements:
  • 3-4 years of experience in a similar role
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain attention to detail
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions:
  • Fast-paced environment with a focus on animal health and well-being
  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions
  • Physical demands of the job include standing for long periods, lifting heavy objects, and working in confined spaces
