Your Opportunity:
As a Rehabilitation Therapist I in this supportive environment, you will primarily work autonomously while also engaging in communication and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team concerning clients at the facility, as well as with community partners. You will receive support from the Allied Health Area Manager and the Physiotherapy Professional Practice Lead, with opportunities to connect with professionals in the surrounding areas. In this role, you will provide clinical guidance to a Therapy Assistant and may occasionally mentor Physiotherapy or Therapy Assistant students.
Description:
In the role of Rehabilitation Therapist I (PT), your focus will be on delivering therapeutic interventions that empower clients to attain optimal physical function and independence across various stages, including development, disease management, disability, chronic conditions, and functional decline. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of interventions, including prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, and support for referrals and transitions for individuals, groups, populations, and communities. You will actively involve clients and their families as essential members of the healthcare team, promoting their engagement in all facets of care.
The PT will work collaboratively with patients and their families to determine, implement, and assess suitable rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in diverse interprofessional teams to enhance awareness, enrich support systems, and engage in quality improvement initiatives, partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families, and other stakeholders to advance services for clients. Additionally, you will contribute to quality improvement efforts and your professional community, engage in peer mentoring, and supervise students. Clinical supervision may also be provided to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides, and Provisional Physiotherapists.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program is essential. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta is required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
A Class 5 driver's license or non-GDL is necessary. Eligibility for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association is required. Certification in Heart & Stroke: BCLS-HCP is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
Current AADL Authorizer status is preferred.
