About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fish Processing Labourer to join our team at Evan's Fresh Seafoods Ltd. As a key member of our processing team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of our products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Unload and Transport Fish and Shellfish: Unload fish and shellfish from fishing vessels and transport them by hand to the work area, ensuring minimal damage and optimal handling.
  • Operate Forklift and Transport Unloaded Fish and Shellfish: Safely operate a forklift to transport unloaded fish and shellfish from fishing vessels to the work area.
  • Condition Fish Filets: Condition fish filets for wrapping or freezing, adhering to strict quality control standards.
  • Weigh and Record Fish and Shellfish: Weigh fish or shellfish, record weight, and pack fish in ice, ensuring accurate and efficient processing.
  • Clean and Maintain Equipment: Clean machines and immediate work areas, maintaining a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Measure and Prepare Ingredients: Measure and dump ingredients into hoppers of mixing and grinding machines, ensuring accurate and efficient processing.
  • Sort and Classify Fish: Sort fish according to species, weight, and destination, ensuring optimal quality and efficiency.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Weight Handling: Lift and move up to 23 kg (50 lbs) of fish and shellfish, requiring physical stamina and endurance.
  • Work Environment: Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with exposure to cold, wet, and noisy conditions.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required.
  • Experience: Willingness to train and learn on the job.
  • Personal Suitability: Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, reliability, and a team player attitude.
