About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fish Processing Labourer to join our team at Evan's Fresh Seafoods Ltd. As a key member of our processing team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe handling of fish and shellfish from receipt to packaging.

Key Responsibilities
  • Unload and Transport Fish and Shellfish: Unload fish and shellfish from fishing vessels and transport them by hand to the work area, ensuring minimal damage and efficient processing.
  • Operate Forklift and Transport Equipment: Use a forklift to transport unloaded fish and shellfish from fishing vessels, maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
  • Condition and Prepare Fish for Packaging: Condition fish filets for wrapping or freezing, adhering to quality control standards and company protocols.
  • Weigh and Record Fish and Shellfish: Weigh fish or shellfish, record weight, and pack fish in ice, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Clean and Maintain Equipment and Work Areas: Clean machines and immediate work areas, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Measure and Prepare Ingredients: Measure and dump ingredients into hoppers of mixing and grinding machines, following established recipes and procedures.
  • Sort and Organize Fish: Sort fish according to species, weight, and destination, ensuring efficient and accurate processing.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Weight Handling: Lift and move up to 23 kg (50 lbs) of fish and shellfish, maintaining a safe and efficient work pace.
