Maintenance Planner

Westlake is seeking a skilled Maintenance Planner to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our production equipment and facilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement daily work schedules to ensure adequate resources are available to complete preventative, predictive, and planned maintenance activities.
- Audit assignments and resources to ensure repair schedules and performance expectations are met, including maintenance staff, materials, documents, work orders, and necessary approvals.
- Maintain accurate records of plant equipment in our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and ensure all work, both planned and unplanned, is properly documented.
- Support and implement initiatives from the Westlake Reliability Team as needed.
- Process and manage purchase requisitions for parts and services required to support maintenance activities.
- Manage maintenance spare parts inventory and records in CMMS.
- Track shipments of repair parts or locate in stock and deliver to the appropriate location or individual as needed.
- Enter all applicable supplier information into the CMMS system.
- Ensure accurate recording of labor hours, materials, and necessary notes associated with work in the CMMS system.
- Coordinate upcoming project needs and plans with the Maintenance Superintendent.
- Order parts necessary to complete jobs and expedite parts if necessary to meet priority.
- Plan all maintenance activities to be completed during scheduled production downtime under the direction of the Maintenance Superintendent.
- Communicate maintenance work schedules to operations and maintenance supervision and gain alignment of schedule and ensure compliance.
- Arrange and coordinate outside resources/services as needed.
- Provide input to management and suggest improvements for efficiency.
- Evaluate and analyze equipment history and predictive maintenance data and trends to assist in anticipating plant maintenance needs.
- Notify the Maintenance Superintendent of any problems or issues with inventory, planning, and scheduling.
- Maintain hot work permit files.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
- Support all company safety, health, and environmental programs/policies and be accountable for the performance of these programs in the Maintenance Department.
- Maintain a high level of service and work performance while supporting and promoting a positive and cooperative team environment that fosters creative problem-solving and shared learning.
- High School Diploma required; Associate's degree in a technical field preferred.
- 2 years' experience in production and/or manufacturing.
- 2 years' experience in planning and scheduling.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Proficiency with Windows-based software (specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in a corporate environment.
- Ability to operate well in a team environment.
- Experience with inventory management and labor and material planning.
- Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement.
- Experience with CMMS software preferred.
- General understanding of repair parts, electrical, and mechanical equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of Worksafe BC regulations standards and requirements preferred.
This position has a transitioning work environment, including office/computer, manufacturing plant, and outdoor environments. This is a salaried position that may require occasional shifts beyond 8.5 hours. The noise level in the plant environment is usually high, as normal for a manufacturing plant. Some work in the operating units may require the use of required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, fall protection, and hard hats.
