WHAT IS THE ROLE?

The Quantitative Investment Strategies (QIS) team at RBC is at the forefront of developing and managing innovative investment approaches. As a quantitative analyst within this dynamic front office environment, you will utilize RBC's extensive data resources to create automated solutions and analytical models. Your role will involve providing quantitative insights to various trading and sales teams across asset classes, including Commodities, FX, Rates, and Equities, while designing and executing investment strategies tailored for our clients. This position fosters a collaborative atmosphere where innovative solutions are crafted to enhance trading and risk management practices.

WHAT ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES?

  • Design and sustain automated data processing systems, infrastructure, index calculation frameworks, and related workflows.
  • Engage with stakeholders to define and fulfill requirements for data quality, integrity, and promptness.
  • Establish governance and control measures for all data processing systems, ensuring adherence to documentation protocols.
  • Enhance and maintain tools that support trading operations, quantitative methodologies, and risk management efforts.
  • Collaborate with trading teams to develop risk management frameworks.
  • Partner with IT and business units to devise data validation techniques and processes.
  • Research, formulate, and implement investment strategies for clients.
  • Oversee existing strategies and deliver daily quantitative support to trading and sales teams.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS ARE REQUIRED?

Essential Skills:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science). A Master's degree or higher is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 2 years of pertinent experience.
  • Proven ability to utilize relevant technologies (e.g., Python, C++, SQL, q/KDB) to address challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with derivative products and their valuation techniques.
  • Understanding of quantitative strategies and back-testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of futures and/or equity trading principles.
  • Awareness of market risk management concepts, such as Value at Risk (VaR).
  • Experience in data manipulation and processing.
