Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse

The Alberta Health Services (AHS) Addictions and Mental Health Program is a dynamic multidisciplinary team that provides comprehensive care to patients. As a Registered Nurse (RN)/Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) on Unit 25, you will be an integral member of the team, working collaboratively to provide holistic care to individuals, families, and communities.
Job Summary:This role involves delivering targeted interventions, with a focus on in-patient acute psychiatric nursing. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop a robust plan of care, addressing the diverse needs of patients. Your responsibilities will include physical and mental status assessments, de-escalation, and conflict-resolution. You will also engage in discharge planning, promoting, maintaining, and restoring mental health, while preventing mental illness injury, and disability.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver targeted interventions to patients with acute psychiatric illness
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop a robust plan of care
- Conduct physical and mental status assessments, de-escalation, and conflict-resolution
- Engage in discharge planning to promote, maintain, and restore mental health
- Facilitate and deliver group content to patients
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
- Completion of the CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (if not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five years)
This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024.
