BC Centre for Disease Control, Public Health Laboratory
The Medical Microbiology Associate at the BC Centre for Disease Control Public Health Laboratory (BCCDC PHL) is integral to the evaluation, diagnosis, monitoring, and tracking of infectious diseases caused by a variety of pathogens.
Reporting to the Medical Director of BCCDC PHL, the role encompasses enhancing patient and community care, infection prevention, public health outbreak monitoring and response, education, and applied research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor technical personnel while supporting laboratory operations.
- Provide clinical advice and assist in the interpretation of laboratory results.
- Engage in quality assurance processes.
- Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Analyze laboratory testing trends.
- Stay updated with advancements in clinical practice.
- Undertake additional related responsibilities as required.
- Medical degree from an accredited institution.
- At least two years of postgraduate training.
- Experience in medical microbiology, infectious diseases, or infection control.
- Proficiency in the English language.
- Eligibility for registration with the relevant medical board.
