Diagnostic Sonographer I Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Sonographer I to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for examination, review patient history, and explain procedures
  • Obtain ultrasound images of diagnostic quality and take initial action to resolve abnormal findings
  • Assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention, and patient management while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety
  • Collaborate with Radiologists, Cardiologists, Perinatologists, and other medical staff as required

Requirements:

  • Completion of an extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program
  • Active or eligible registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT) and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of current ultrasound experience
  • Breast imaging experience is an asset
  • Vascular certification is preferred
