About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly qualified Senior Lecturer to join our team at Mount Royal University. The successful candidate will teach 9 courses per academic year, with a focus on service contributions and no scholarship requirements. Class sizes typically average between 35-40 students.
The Senior Lecturer will lead or support curriculum development and coordination of MGMT3210: Business Communication Theory and Practice courses. The role requires active engagement with full-time colleagues and a large contract faculty group, contributing to the development and sharing of common teaching resources to ensure continuity across sections in MGMT3210.
Applicants are encouraged to highlight their qualifications and interest in Business Communication and other General Management topics, as well as any experience they may have with industry, community service learning, and curriculum development.
Responsibilities
- Instruction: course delivery, preparation of course outlines, course materials, course activities, lesson preparation, and assessments;
- Administration: administering midterm and/or final exams, inputting final grades, and participating in course-related meetings;
- Service: may include coaching student competition teams, mentoring student clubs, assisting with curriculum and program reviews, and serving on departmental, faculty, or university committees;
- Community: The successful candidate will actively liaise with human resources industry partners or professional associations on behalf of the Bissett School of Business.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree is required, but a PhD in a closely related field is preferred;
- Ideal candidates would have business/industry experience with a communications focus, with experience in investor relations, stakeholder engagement, and external audiences being an asset;
- Teaching and curriculum development experience at the post-secondary level, with the ability to teach across both General Management and Communication Studies;
- Strong interpersonal, written, presentation, and communication skills, with attention to detail and multiple audiences in mind;
- The ability to respectfully engage with diverse communities and create inclusive classrooms, with a decolonized approach to communications being an asset;
