We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Planning Associate to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Wealth Management division, you will play a critical role in providing financial planning support to our dedicated Wealth Advisors.
Key Responsibilities- Proactively support the financial planning needs of our clients, including conducting in-depth discovery sessions to understand their goals and objectives, preparing and presenting personalized financial plans, and working with Wealth Advisors to implement plan recommendations.
- Input client data into financial planning software, building comprehensive financial plans that address clients' immediate and future goals and objectives.
- Provide alternative scenarios or solutions when clients are unable to meet their goals, identifying and communicating referral opportunities to Wealth Advisors.
- Actively track and manage follow-up action plan items to ensure timely completion, championing an integrated and organized approach to planning through collaboration with internal specialists.
- Contribute to the ongoing professional practice by participating in monthly Total Wealth Planning calls, collaborating with local Senior Total Wealth Planners and Total Wealth Planning Associates to ensure consistent product and process delivery to clients.
- Provide general support to Wealth Advisors and teams by sharing updates on financial planning trends and strategic recommendations that may benefit clients.
- Ensure all financial plans are accurate and adhere to Financial Planning Defaults & Standards, recommending reasonable client-focused strategies while maintaining awareness of the latest legislative and financial industry policies.
- Maintain currency of the latest legislative and other financial industry changes that may affect Financial Planning techniques.
- Understand how Scotiabank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
- Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
- Completed education requirements towards the Institut québécois de planification financière (IQPF) designation.
- In-depth understanding of the comprehensive financial planning process, including investments, asset protection, retirement, estate planning, and tax issues.
- College or University degree.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, specifically Word and Excel.
- Advanced understanding of financial planning software, ability to model complex strategies and workarounds to incorporate new changes and legislations.
- Experience in Total Wealth Planning engagement from client discovery, plan preparation to presentation delivery.
- Experience in a client-facing role with opportunity to provide financial advice.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate in English and French.
- Strong attention to detail and a results-focused mindset.
- Canadian Securities Course and/or Life Insurance License is an asset.
