Role Overview:
The Human Resources Co-op Student will deliver administrative and HR support in a fast-paced office setting. This role will provide the student with insights into high-volume recruitment processes while assisting in various recruitment activities, including job postings, pre-screening, interviews, and reference checks. The student will also help coordinate new hire onboarding, support internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to daily administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with employee recruitment, including posting job vacancies, pre-screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks.
- Prepare and coordinate onboarding for new employees, ensuring all administrative tasks are completed.
- Document all recruitment activities and HR-related materials in the document management system.
- Update documents as necessary, including job descriptions, templates, and forms.
- Provide scheduling and administrative support.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including HR projects and functions.
- Respond to general HR inquiries in person, via telephone, or email.
Essential Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree, preferably with a focus on Human Resources, or a diploma from a recognized Human Resources Management program.
- Progress towards CHRP certification is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with the full-cycle recruitment process is advantageous.
- Experience in a Construction, Engineering, Nuclear, or Project Management environment is a plus.
- Basic understanding of relevant legislation, particularly the Ontario Employment Standards Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information effectively.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Capability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
