Aviation Safety Specialist Role

Are you dedicated to enhancing safety standards in the aviation sector? Join our team as an Aviation Safety Specialist at Starlink Aviation, where we prioritize the utmost levels of safety and regulatory compliance. Your key responsibility will be to foster a safety-oriented culture, pinpoint potential risks, evaluate hazards, and oversee the implementation of corrective measures.

You will collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders to ensure adherence to safety regulations and industry best practices. Your primary duties will include:

  1. Encouraging a proactive safety culture, motivating team members to report safety issues and near-misses.
  2. Formulating, promoting, and sustaining Starlink Aviation's safety policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with regulatory standards.
  3. Executing regular safety audits and risk evaluations to uncover potential dangers and assess the effectiveness of current safety protocols.
  4. Partnering with department leaders and staff to enhance safety awareness and provide insights on best practices.
  5. Assisting in the investigation of incidents, accidents, and near-misses, collecting data, performing root cause analysis, and suggesting corrective measures to avert future occurrences.
  6. Maintaining comprehensive safety documentation, including incident reports, training records, and performance metrics.
  7. Conducting safety training sessions and workshops for personnel, ensuring familiarity with safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  8. Keeping abreast of industry developments, emerging safety technologies, and regulatory changes, and proposing necessary updates to safety policies.
  9. Engaging with regulatory bodies, participating in safety inspections, and aiding in the preparation of safety-related documentation.
  10. Monitoring safety performance indicators and providing regular updates to management regarding safety metrics and improvement areas.

Conditions:

  • The Safety Specialist must be available for emergency situations at all times, 24/7.
  • Part-time commitment with a minimum of 10 hours per week.
  • Compensation will be determined based on the candidate's experience.
  • A hybrid work model: some responsibilities will be performed remotely, while others will necessitate on-site presence.

Requirements:

  • Comprehensive understanding of aviation safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to evaluate risks and develop effective safety strategies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to convey safety requirements and train staff.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to maintain precise records.
  • Knowledge of incident investigation methodologies and root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems (SMS) and risk management principles.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in utilizing safety-related software and reporting systems.
  • Capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
  • Strong leadership skills to cultivate a safety culture within the organization.
  • A commitment to continuous learning to stay informed about industry advancements in aviation safety.
  • CASO training is an asset.
  • Eligibility for obtaining an identity card for restricted areas (RAIC).
