Required Education and Experience: Completion of an accredited program for physical therapy assistants. Must hold a valid Florida license as a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (LPTA).
Preferred Education and Experience: A minimum of two years of clinical practice, ideally with one year in an outpatient environment. Specialized experience in outpatient orthopedics, industrial medicine, neurology, rheumatology, or gerontology is highly desirable.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or to be obtained within three months of employment. Completion of the initial three-hour HIV training and one-hour update requirement per licensure period is necessary.
Summary/Objective: A Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (LPTA) delivers physical therapy services to patients under the guidance of a licensed physical therapist, adhering to the directives outlined in a provider's prescription.
Essential Functions
1. Review patient evaluations, Plans of Care, and available progress notes prior to administering treatment.
2. Ensure timely and accurate documentation in compliance with departmental standards.
3. Foster effective communication with supervising physical therapists, patients, families, physicians, and colleagues.
4. Organize a daily schedule that optimizes departmental efficiency and guarantees high-quality patient care.
5. Maintain the treatment area, equipment, and supplies as part of the therapeutic process.
6. Engage in educational and professional development activities that enhance personal, co-worker, and patient care.
