Key Responsibilities:

MEDIATION SERVICE DELIVERY

Evaluate and determine the suitability of cases for family mediation. Facilitate preliminary sessions to ensure all parties comprehend their options and are ready to engage, including providing necessary resources and assessing safety concerns. Employ a non-evaluative, facilitative, and client-centered approach to mediation. Establish service agreements with clients. Implement effective strategies in high-conflict scenarios. Assist parties in addressing their needs and interests, prioritizing the welfare of children. Maintain a strong understanding of relevant Family Law. Prepare written summaries of agreements for clients. Support parties in adapting to new family dynamics and situations. Participate in peer consultations and co-mediation to uphold and enhance professional standards and performance.

CONSULTATION & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Collaborate with Family Court Counsellors, Case Flow Coordinators, and other departmental, governmental, and community organizations regarding the appropriateness of mediation for dispute resolution. Engage with governmental and community-based agencies, boards, or groups to strengthen connections between Business and Resolution Services and the community.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation, and mediation skills, including experience with multi-party and high-conflict mediation. Comprehensive knowledge of child development and the needs of children during separation or divorce. Strong assessment capabilities to promote mediator and practitioner growth. Ability to provide leadership and mentorship to colleagues. Excellent organizational skills to manage the volume and complexity of tasks. Capacity to work effectively both in a team setting and independently. Proficiency in handling sensitive and intricate matters involving families and children.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 180 hours of Conflict Management training is essential, with at least 40 hours focused on separation and divorce or family mediation. Please detail the specific courses and hours of training completed in your resume.

Completion of one of the following is also required:

Relevant University Degree (Dispute Resolution, Sociology, Psychology, Law, etc.) with 2 years of related practical experience; OR Bachelor of Social Work with some related experience; OR Master's Degree in a relevant field with some practical experience; OR Relevant Diploma with 3 years of related experience; OR Relevant Certificate with 4 years of related experience.

Preference will be given to candidates with:

In-depth knowledge, supported by experience, of theoretical models, specialized techniques, and practical procedures related to mediation and alternative dispute resolution. Experience in facilitating alternative dispute resolution processes, such as mediation, for families facing parental conflict and/or undergoing separation or divorce. Proficiency in utilizing technology for remote mediation and client relationship management software.

Successful candidates may be invited to participate in an assessed mediation 'role play' as part of the selection process.

Position Information:

This role encompasses two full-time permanent positions. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week. A hybrid work arrangement is available for this position. Final candidates will undergo a security screening.
