Rehabilitation Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Rehabilitation Assistant to join our team at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will work under the direction of a professional nurse, physiotherapist, or occupational therapist to implement treatment plans and assist patients in achieving their rehabilitation goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out designated components of a rehabilitative treatment plan under the direction of a physiotherapist or occupational therapist.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, mobility, and communication.
- Provide functional skills training to patients and families in activities of daily living, mobility, and communication.
- Assist with power and manual wheelchair mobility training.
- Perform various tests as assigned by PT or OT, such as Berg Balance, Timed Up and Go (TUG), and six-minute walk test.
- Prepare and apply therapeutic treatment modalities as assigned by PT or OT.
- Maintain therapy equipment and supplies.
Requirements:
- Completion of a Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
