Bonaventure Support Services is a vibrant and growing social service organization located on Vancouver Island. We provide a wide array of services, support, and opportunities for adults with diverse abilities. Our approach is centered around the individual, offering goal-oriented options and encouraging full community participation.

Role Overview:
The Community Engagement Support Specialist is responsible for establishing and nurturing a warm and personal rapport with each individual supported. This role emphasizes the importance of natural support systems and the active involvement of family, friends, and neighbors in the lives of those we serve.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist individuals in developing their physical, social, emotional, recreational, economic, educational, and vocational life skills.
  2. Collaborate with the Program Manager and team members to create opportunities for social connections, activities, and meaningful community contributions.
  3. Support individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, health management, behavioral support, nutrition, recreation, social engagement, vocational training, education, and environmental needs as outlined in their person-centered plans (PCP).
  4. Advocate for individual choice while facilitating the development of essential life skills.
  5. Adhere to the Policies and Procedures of Bonaventure Support Services, embodying our Mission Statement, Values, and Code of Ethics.
  6. Exhibit a high level of respect and tolerance for each individual's unique personality and challenges, promoting their dignity and rights.
  7. Foster positive and effective working relationships with family members and team colleagues.

Qualifications:
  • Experience working with individuals with diverse abilities or related experience.
  • Good health and the physical capability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Food Safe Level 1 Certificate.
  • Proof of COVID-19 Full Vaccination or Exemption.
