Education Director

The Director of Education is a key member of our team, responsible for delivering high-quality educational experiences to our students. This role requires a strong passion for education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, families, and school administrators.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Centre Director in delivering assessments, updating lesson plans, and preparing teaching materials.
- Teach the Sylvan curriculum in a 3:1 setting to students when necessary, interacting with and motivating students during instruction, and evaluating and documenting student progress after instruction.
- Manage and deliver all conference activities, including preparing conference materials and meeting with parents to keep families enrolled in Sylvan.
- Ensure that all teachers are trained and certified to deliver Sylvan programs and monitor their performance.
- Motivate and develop staff by providing ongoing learning opportunities.
- Monitor student progress to ensure goals are achieved and ongoing family needs are met.
- Conduct parent conferences on a regular and timely basis, with appropriate documentation.
- Maintain regular contact with schools via teacher conferences, either in-person, via email, or over the telephone.
- Communicate with the Centre Director any concerns regarding student progress or instructor performance.
- May also be required to make school visits, establish and maintain relationships with schools for partnership and marketing purposes.
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field from an accredited university.
- Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience preferred; experience in a supervisor role preferred.
- Knowledge of current BC educational curriculum and policy.
- Previous retail and/or sales experience preferred.
- Be comfortable working with computers and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of iPads and Zoom an asset.
- Proven ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to learn.
- Be hard-working, exude empathy, and love working with children.
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to discuss and sell Sylvan products and services to new and existing customers.
- Be a self-starter who is able to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
- Articulate, organized, professional, detail-oriented, and able to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
- Ability to work collaboratively; strong team player.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Have reliable transportation (vehicle preferred).
