About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at GHD. As a key member of our infrastructure development team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in geotechnical engineering for complex transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide geotechnical technical direction on multidisciplinary alternate delivery projects
  • Lead medium to large size soil-structure interaction design projects, particularly in underground structures and foundations
  • Review field and laboratory test results from ground investigations for design purposes
  • Carry out seismic design of underground structures in accordance with relevant Codes and Standards in Canada and the United States
  • Site supervision experience for infrastructure and building projects with focus on underground structures such as tunnels and underground stations
  • Provide technical leadership on complex and special geotechnical and geostructural engineering projects throughout our business
  • Contribute to the recruiting of key staff and assist the team with new ideas on how we should grow the geostructural capabilities of the group
  • Manage a wide variety of projects related to transportation, rail, civil municipal, MTO and commercial development
Requirements
  • University graduate with degree in geotechnical, geological or civil (geotechnical/geostructural) engineering
  • A Professional Engineering (P. Eng) license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is required
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in geotechnical/geostructural engineering field
  • Experience in major alternate delivery mode infrastructure projects, construction engineering and complex geostructural design
  • Ability to lead and cooperate with a team in various environments, as well as work independently
  • Proficiency with advanced 2D and 3D static and dynamic soil-structures interaction and geostructural design software
  • Strong written and oral communication (English) skills
  • Strong analytical/technical, project management and report writing skills
