Senior Geotechnics Engineer - Toronto

Tony Gee and Partners is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnics Engineer to join our team in Toronto. As a key member of our geotechnical design team, you will be responsible for managing the design delivery of various geotechnical projects and providing technical oversight to junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage design delivery of geotechnical projects, including geotechnical elements of multi-disciplinary projects
  • Coordinate with other engineers to ensure technical accuracy and quality
  • Support the Managing Director in achieving budget and strategy targets
  • Prepare fee budgets, proposals, and resource requirements for projects
  • Prepare calculations, drawings, and other documents, ensuring control during project execution
  • Support less experienced staff, sharing knowledge and acting as a coach or mentor
  • Establish standard methodologies for geotechnical design and improve our practice
Requirements:
  • Minimum of eight years' experience post-graduation in geotechnical design
  • Minimum of five years' experience in the design of geotechnical elements of infrastructure in a rail environment, including Canadian standards
  • Experience in heavy civil geotechnical engineering applications, including foundations, deep excavations, slope stability, and numerical analysis
  • Experience with computer software for geotechnical analysis
  • Production of design deliverables, including packages of drawings and specifications, and supervision of engineers and BIM/CAD technicians
Desirable:
  • Experience working on Ministry of Transportation projects
  • AutoCAD skills
  • Ideal experience as a PEng on Metrolinx projects
  • Good communication skills in English, both oral and written
  • Ability to work independently and within a team to meet project, client, company, and personal objectives
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and develop their technical abilities
  • A challenging attitude to solving engineering problems to achieve cost-effective designs and develop innovative solutions
  • Awareness of the importance of costs and the need to complete projects on time and to budget
  • Willingness to seek advice when unsure of how to tackle problems
Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer (PEng) licence in Ontario with MEng/BEng in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical or Geological Engineering or similar
