Position Overview

Join our dedicated team at the YMCA of Newfoundland and Labrador as an Early Childhood Educator. This is a permanent position that requires a commitment of 40 hours per week in a supportive and enriching environment.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a college, CEGEP, or equivalent non-university certificate or diploma in a program lasting 1 to 2 years.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 month and up to 7 months of relevant experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate children's growth to create personalized learning plans that cater to their individual needs.
  • Support colleagues with daily tasks including housekeeping and meal preparation.
  • Care for infants and toddlers by bathing, diapering, and feeding them.
  • Design and execute childcare programs that foster the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social growth of children.
  • Maintain and organize daycare equipment to ensure a safe environment.
  • Engage children through storytelling and creative activities.
  • Communicate children's progress and concerns to parents and guardians.

  • Stay informed about licensing regulations and adhere to established guidelines for behavior.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with colleagues and community service providers.
  • Ensure a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the well-being of all children.
  • Plan and organize activities for school-age children during before and after school hours.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of fellow early childhood educators and assistants.
