About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team at Knottwood Construction. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of workmanship in the construction of residential and commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Measure, Cut, and Assemble Materials: Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials to construct and repair structures.
  • Build Foundations and Install Roof Systems: Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems to ensure the structural integrity of buildings.
  • Fit and Install Windows and Doors: Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware to ensure a safe and secure living or working environment.
  • Survey Building Locations and Levels: Survey building locations and levels to ensure accurate construction and installation of structures.
  • Supervise and Maintain Work Sites: Supervise other workers and maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate and 1 to less than 7 months of experience in the field, or equivalent experience.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, in noisy and dusty environments, and outdoors.
  • Work Setting: Willingness to work in construction, various locations, and relocate for the position.
  • Level of Expertise: Maintenance and repair of structures.
  • Transportation and Travel: Willingness to travel and relocate for the position.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Ability to bend, crouch, kneel, handle heavy loads, and work in physically demanding environments with tight deadlines.
  • Personal Suitability: Accurate, efficient interpersonal skills, reliability, team player, and values and ethics.
