Rehabilitation & Fitness Specialist (Term)

About the Opportunity:

The Department of Recreation, Athletics & Wellness at the University of Toronto Mississauga is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Rehabilitation & Fitness Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the physical rehabilitation and fitness needs of our students and tri-campus athletes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting athletic therapy assessments and providing manual physical health assessments and treatments in accordance with professional standards
  • Assessing and selecting appropriate therapeutic exercises and modalities to support student and athlete rehabilitation
  • Providing on-field triage and support to medical professionals as required, and advising coaching staff on practice drills and techniques that may pose a risk of injury
  • Coordinating the schedule for program and event calendars, and recommending preventative measures to ensure safety
  • Directing the activities of casual staff and working collaboratively with the recreation team to support student and athlete wellness

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience in Sports therapy, Kinesiology, or a related field
  • Minimum two years experience in treating and assessing sport-related therapy needs and rehabilitation
  • Experience in developing athletes for competitive play and managing athletic therapy requirements for competitive/Varsity sporting events
  • Experience working with diverse groups of people and excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate and participate effectively within a team
  • Certified Athletic Therapist (C.A.T.) and current/active member of the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (C.A.T.A.)
  • First responder certification, First Aid/CPR-HCP, and AED certification
  • Knowledge of ImPACT software and EMR, and excellent computer skills, including MSWord and Excel
