Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to support our Recycling facility and other sites in the Atlantic Region. The EHS Specialist will play a vital role in fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and promote a positive EHS culture throughout the organization
  • Provide expert advice on EHS initiatives and best practices
  • Conduct comprehensive training programs for supervisors and employees on safety procedures and regulations
  • Perform thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement preventive measures
  • Investigate accidents and incidents promptly and effectively, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions
  • Conduct regular audits of existing safety programs and preventive measures to ensure effectiveness
  • Respond to inquiries from employees and management regarding EHS matters
  • Track key EHS metrics and prepare reports to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement
  • Provide support for new hire onboarding, ensuring they receive comprehensive safety training
  • Collaborate with corporate programs and initiatives to ensure alignment with overall company goals
  • Support the Joint Health and Safety Committee by providing expertise and guidance
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
  • EHS diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant Acts and Regulations governing workplace safety
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple projects simultaneously
