Position Overview: We are currently seeking a Financial Controller to take charge of our Canadian Accounting division. This pivotal role involves close collaboration with the Global CFO and requires a proactive approach to financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Oversight: Ensure the integrity of financial reporting and conduct thorough analyses of financial outcomes. Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and oversee all financial transactions.
- Reporting: Prepare monthly financial statements for internal review and external reporting, and facilitate the annual audit process.
- Budget Management: Assist in the annual budgeting cycle, comparing actual results to forecasts to identify and address variances.
- Operational Support: Collaborate with operational and sales teams to provide financial insights that support business activities and establish effective administrative systems.
- Internal Controls: Develop and uphold robust internal controls to safeguard revenue, manage capital expenditures, and oversee all financial outflows.
- Payroll Management: Supervise bi-weekly payroll processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and tax obligations.
- Tax Compliance: Provide guidance on compliance with tax regulations, including provincial and corporate taxes, payroll deductions, and sales taxes.
- Account Reconciliation: Conduct monthly reviews and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Billing Management: Ensure timely and accurate billing to customers.
- Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash management, receivables, collections, and vendor payments.
Team Development:
- Utilize the strengths of team members to create and implement training programs aimed at achieving both individual and organizational objectives.
- Foster effective internal communication across all levels of the organization, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Engage with leadership on profitability and performance strategies for current and future business initiatives.
- Interact directly with clients, particularly large healthcare organizations, to present financial insights.
- Contribute to strategic planning efforts in collaboration with senior leadership.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, along with a CPA designation and a minimum of six years of experience in Public Accounting.
- A strong commitment to building, mentoring, and retaining a diverse team.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities for strategic data interpretation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in presenting key financial data to senior management.
- Adept at simplifying complex financial concepts for diverse audiences.
- Proficient in project management and time management to meet critical deadlines.
