Cabinetry & Millwork Designer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Cabinetry & Millwork Designer to join our team at Mattamy Homes Corporation. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive design plans for prefabricated cabinetry, millwork, and furniture compatible with our products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design kitchen and vanity cabinetry layouts based on existing floorplans and organizational needs, creating concepts, mock-ups, and final designs.
  • Work with and extend a catalogue of cabinets within our cabinet design software.
  • Develop detailed plans and 3D models showing arrangement of walls, dividers, displays, elevations, cross-sections, and responsible for data creation and construction library management.
  • Read blueprints, shop drawings, and autoCAD illustrations, and consult on materials, colours, finishes, lighting, and other items, taking into account ergonomic and occupational health standards.
  • Provide constructive feedback and consultation to senior management.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement regarding product knowledge and design trends.
  • Deliver product quality of the highest possible standards that can be manufactured within specified timelines and budgets.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Interior Design, Bachelor of Craft and Design, Bachelor of Furniture Design, or significant carpentry experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, technical spec sheets, and translate that into actionable cabinetry design parameters.
  • Experience leading full-cycle furniture design process.
  • Manufacturing experience, particularly in the context of large-scale CNC woodworking.
  • Strong knowledge of furniture manufacturing (materials, finishes, hardware, etc.).
  • Thorough furniture construction and processing understanding.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including collaboration, communication, and relationship building.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in relevant software (e.g. CNC programming, 3D modelling, autoCAD, Mozaik, Sketchup, 20/20 or similar).
  • Experience with HOMAG iX software is an asset.
