About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Education Assistant to join our team at Aitchison College of Technology & Health Sciences Inc. This is a permanent position that offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accompany students during school and extracurricular activities, providing support and guidance as needed.
  • Assist in the school library or office, helping with administrative tasks and maintaining a organized environment.
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups with students, helping them with assignments and reinforcing learning concepts under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the school principal, including supervising students during recess and lunch hour.
  • Monitor and report student progress to the classroom teacher, providing valuable insights and feedback.
  • Assist the teacher in operating projectors, tape recorders, and other audio-visual or electronic equipment.
  • Support students with special needs, using techniques such as sign language, braille, and remedial programs.
Support for Diverse Groups
  • Participate in government or community programs that support newcomers and refugees, promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Recruit and support newcomers and refugees, providing a welcoming environment for all employees.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations, promoting cultural competency and awareness.
  • Offer mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for indigenous workers, promoting career advancement and growth.
  • Provide cultural competency training and awareness training to all employees, creating a welcoming work environment for diverse groups.
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a related field.
  • Ability to work in an urban area.
