Rural Obstetrician Gynecologist

Alberta Health Services is seeking an experienced Obstetrician Gynecologist to join our team at High River General Hospital. As a key member of our Department of Rural Medicine, Calgary Zone, you will have the opportunity to work in a community-based clinic and hospital setting, providing high-quality care to patients in need.
About the RoleThis is a full-time position with a mix of community-based clinic and hospital work, including on-call coverage to support local maternity clinic providers. The successful applicant must have strong OB/GYN surgical skills, including operative laparoscopy experience, and be comfortable operating without on-site backup of other surgical specialties in a Level 1 community hospital.
Key Responsibilities- Provide obstetric and gynecological care to patients in the community-based clinic and hospital setting.
- Participate in on-call coverage to support local maternity clinic providers.
- Develop and maintain a community-based practice within the town of High River or surrounding rural area.
The successful candidate must be a qualified medical doctor with specialist certification in obstetrics and gynecology, eligible for independent practice through the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Candidates must also have demonstrated ability to work with and manage a multi-disciplinary team, superior interpersonal communication skills, and strong surgical skills, including extensive laparoscopic skills and training.
